Kitezh is the New Jerusalem or Grail Castle of Russian mythology, and this book is the first English translation of the remarkable legends of Kitezh and the heroic folk-tales of Russia. It also contains a rare essay by the great Russian esotericist, Valentin Tomberg, author of Meditations on the Tarot. He was the first person to see the central importance of these legends to the Slav Culture. They present a shining, Utopian vision, which Russia has aspired to again and again since the heroic era when King Vladimir, the Red Sun of Kiev, founded his Round Table in the same spirit as the Brotherhood of the Grail. This vision was perceived and shared by Western spiritual science, which in this book provides a fascinating commentary and in-depth analysis of the symbolism and allegorical significance of this Russian mythology.
